About Bridge UK
Hello! Welcome!My name is Luis and I'm the founder of Bridge UK. It's great to see you here!I studied Russian at university, spending a year living in both Estonia and Kazakhstan before graduating with a 1st class degree. I've been tutoring English for several years now, working almost exclusively with Russian-speaking clients, and I've seen the same pattern come up again and again. People often come to me citing the 'language barrier' they are feeling, even when their English is genuinely good. I created Bridge UK to help students defeat that feeling, build confidence, and start seizing more opportunities in this country.I work with clients 1-1, and I also run weekly workshops covering all things 'life in the UK'! Hello! I'm Luis, and I'm delighted to see you here! I'm a native English speaker from Cambridgeshire and I've been tutoring English for several years now to a wide range of students.I studied Russian at Queen Mary University of London, spending a year living in both Estonia and Kazakhstan as part of my course. I was awarded the Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Russian in my second year, and I graduated with a First Class degree, averaging 77 across my 4 years of study.That year abroad shaped a lot of what Bridge UK is now. Living in Tallinn and Astana gave me a real sense of what it's like to operate day-to-day in a second language and culture. I strive to help my students overcome some of the challenges I faced myself during that year.Alongside my studies, I spent over a year volunteering as an English tutor for a small charity, running weekly classes for young Ukrainian refugees based in the UK. I later worked as a Russian translator and marketing executive for a company running international conferences, including one in Astana, Kazakhstan.Since then, I've focused on teaching English full-time, working almost exclusively with Russian-speaking clients.
